How to choose the best solar company in Kerala
Key takeaways
  • The "best" solar company is the one that passes every check below, not the one with the biggest advert. Ask for proof, not promises.
  • For a home that wants the subsidy, the installer must be registered for KSEB on the PM Surya Ghar portal and must fit DCR panels.
  • Most of a system's 25-year life depends on what you cannot see in a brochure: the structure, earthing, cabling and after-sales service.
  • Insist on an itemised quote after a site survey, and compare at least two companies line by line.

Kerala has a large and growing number of companies selling rooftop solar, and many of them call themselves the best. A solar system is a 25-year purchase, so the company you choose matters as much as the panels. Here are ten checks that separate a reliable installer from a risky one, followed by how Jasper Solar measures up against each of them.

10 checks before you sign

  1. Registered vendor for KSEB on the PM Surya Ghar portal. Without this, you cannot get the subsidy. Ask for the company's name as it appears on the portal and check it yourself.
  2. MNRE empanelment and KSEB authorization. These show the company meets the standards set for grid-connected rooftop work.
  3. DCR, ALMM-listed panels, with the make and model in writing. Subsidy projects need panels made with Indian cells. Ask for the datasheet and the DCR certificate for the actual panels to be fitted.
  4. A BIS-certified inverter. Grid-connected inverters sold in India must be certified to BIS standards. The model should be named in the quote.
  5. A real structure specification. Ask for the galvanizing thickness, the wind-load design standard (IS 875 Part 3) and how the structure is anchored without leaks. Rusting, thin structures are the most common long-term failure in Kerala's humid, coastal climate.
  6. Earthing and lightning protection. Kerala gets frequent thunderstorms. A proper design follows IEC 62305 and includes separate earthing and a lightning arrester.
  7. A site survey before the price. A company that quotes over the phone without seeing your roof cannot account for shade, structure height or cable routes.
  8. An itemised quote. Panels, inverter, structure, cabling, protection, GST split and warranties should each be listed, so you can compare like with like.
  9. Clear warranties with a local contact. Panels typically carry a 25-year performance warranty and the inverter its own manufacturer warranty. Ask who handles a claim and how fast.
  10. After-sales service and references. Ask for a maintenance plan, a monitoring app and the names of customers near you whose systems you can see.

Red flags

  • "Free solar" or "zero bill" promises with no written terms
  • A price far below other quotes, without named panel and inverter models
  • Pressure to pay in full before the KSEB feasibility approval
  • No office address, or only a mobile number for after-sales
  • Subcontracted installation by a team the company cannot name

Questions to ask every installer

  • Which exact panel and inverter models will you install, and can I see the datasheets?
  • What galvanizing thickness and anchoring method do you use for the structure?
  • Who installs the system: your own team or a subcontractor?
  • What happens if generation drops in year three? Who do I call?
  • Can I speak to a customer near me?

Common questions

Which is the best solar company in Kerala?
There is no official ranking. The right company is one that is registered for the subsidy, uses certified equipment named in writing, builds a structure for Kerala's weather and will still answer your call in ten years. Use the checks above to judge any installer, including us.

Does a bigger company always mean a better installation?
Not necessarily. Some large brands subcontract installation to local teams. What matters is who designs and fits your system and who services it afterwards.

How many quotes should I get?
At least two itemised quotes after a site survey, so you can compare equipment, structure and warranties line by line, not just the total.
