On-grid
Panels feed your home and send extra power to the KSEB grid through a net meter. That export is credited against what you draw at night. It has the lowest cost per kW, qualifies for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, and has no batteries to replace. The catch is that it shuts down during a power cut, a safety rule that protects line workers.
Hybrid
A hybrid inverter does everything an on-grid system does and also charges a battery. When the grid fails, the battery keeps lights, fans, the fridge and Wi-Fi running. It costs more because of the battery, but suits homes with frequent outages, work-from-home needs or medical equipment.
Off-grid
Panels and batteries with no grid connection at all. It is right for farms, estates and remote plots where KSEB supply is unavailable or unreliable. It does not qualify for net metering, and the battery bank must be sized for cloudy monsoon days.
