Calculate your solar savings with the Jasper Solar calculator
How much would you save by switching to solar? This calculator works it out from your own KSEB bill. Enter the bill amount, or the units used, and it estimates the system size you need, the roof space it takes, your new KSEB bill, the PM Surya Ghar subsidy and what you save each month, each year and over 25 years.
Unlike calculators built on national averages, it uses KSEB's real billing: the slab rates for homes, fixed charges, electricity duty and the two-month billing cycle. Generation figures come from systems we have installed in Kerala.
Why use the Jasper Solar calculator?
- Know your savings: monthly, yearly and over the 25-year life of the panels.
- Size the system: the kW your home or business needs to bring the KSEB bill close to the minimum.
- Check the roof: how much shade-free roof the system takes.
- See the subsidy: how much of the PM Surya Ghar subsidy your home qualifies for, up to ₹78,000.
- Plan the EMI: open the solar loan EMI calculator to see the monthly EMI after the subsidy.
- See the green side: the CO₂ your system avoids, and how many trees that equals.

Solar calculator: common questions
How much does a solar system cost in Kerala?
Jasper Solar's price for a home on-grid system is ₹90,000 for 1 kW, ₹2,15,000 for 3 kW, ₹2,80,000 for 4 kW and ₹3,20,000 for 5 kW, before the PM Surya Ghar subsidy of up to ₹78,000. The final price depends on your roof and the panels and inverter you choose.
What size solar system do I need for my KSEB bill?
In Kerala, 1 kW of rooftop solar makes about 133 units a month. Divide your monthly units by 133: a home using 300 units a month needs about 2 kW, and 400 units a month needs about 3 kW. The calculator does this from your bill amount using KSEB's tariff.
How much roof space does rooftop solar need?
About 90 sq ft of shade-free roof per kW. A 3 kW system needs about 270 sq ft.
How much can I save with solar in Kerala?
With KSEB net metering, a 3 kW system on a home using about 400 units a month brings the two-monthly KSEB bill from about ₹7,500 down to about ₹100, saving about ₹44,500 a year at today's tariff. Use the calculator above with your own bill for your number.
